Fire Extinguisher Safety Information

Evacuation Comes First

Your safety is the priority. If there is fire, smoke, an active alarm, spreading fire, or an immediate threat to safety, leave the area and call 911 from a safe location.

Do not delay evacuation to look for or use a fire extinguisher.

Call 911

Only Use an Extinguisher if It Is Safe

Only consider using a fire extinguisher if you have received fire extinguisher training from Western Fire Safety, the fire is small and contained, you have a clear exit path, and there are no immediate hazards.

Never place yourself at risk. Follow your training. If you are unsure or conditions change, evacuate immediately.

Keep a Clear Exit Path

Always keep yourself between the fire and a safe exit. Do not allow fire, smoke, furniture, equipment, or other obstructions to block your way out.

If you cannot maintain a safe exit path, evacuate immediately.

Report Problems or Concerns

Fire extinguishers and other fire safety equipment must remain visible, accessible, and ready for use. Do not block access to or tamper with fire safety equipment.

For non-emergency concerns about missing, damaged, blocked, or discharged fire extinguishers, contact Western Fire Safety.
