Keep Corridors and Exits Clear

Corridors, exits, stairwells, and fire routes must remain clear so people can leave the building safely during an alarm or emergency.

Do not store furniture, boxes, equipment, decorations, garbage, or other materials in corridors, stairwells, exit paths, or in front of exit doors.

Do Not Prop Open Fire Doors

Fire doors help slow the spread of smoke and fire. Do not prop them open, wedge them, block their swing, or prevent them from closing properly.

If a fire door does not close or latch properly, report the concern to Western Fire Safety so it can be reviewed and repaired.

Do Not Block Fire Safety Equipment

Fire alarm pull stations, fire extinguishers, hose cabinets, fire panels, sprinkler equipment, and other fire safety systems must remain visible and accessible at all times.

Blocked equipment can delay emergency response and prevent fire safety equipment from being used when needed.

Maintain Fire Routes and Access

Fire routes, roadways, entrances, and building access points must remain clear for emergency responders.

Do not park, place materials, or create obstructions in areas that could prevent emergency vehicles or responders from accessing a building.

Report a Fire Safety Concern

Contact Western Fire Safety about blocked exits, obstructed fire safety equipment, damaged fire doors, or other non-emergency fire safety concerns.

Include the building name, floor or room number, and a brief description of the concern.
